In 2017, a high percentage of the
candidates that sat down for the West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC),
passed but few came out with distinctions.
Such was the case of Abdullahi
Shittu, who had seven distinctions in West Africa Examination Certificate
(WAEC) and scored 306 in the just concluded Joint Admission Matriculation Board
(JAMB) exams.
The young man was immediately
invited by the Jigawa state government where he was given a scholarship. Rariya
took to their Facebook profile on Thursday, August 10, to post the pictures of
Shittu’s visit to the government house.
The post
reads: "Jigawa state government meets student with 7 distinctions in
WAEC and 306 Jamb score, gives him scholarship. From Engr Magaji Abdullahi
Mallammadori. Jigawa state government under the leadership of Governor Badaru
Mohammed, invited Abdullahi Shittu, a student who had the best WAEC and JAMB
results in the state whose parents cannot further his education. The deputy
governor of the state, Barr Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, received Shittu alongside
his Father and the chairman of his local government; Mallammadori, Hussaini
Ubali A.K.A Baros."

If you could recall, NAIJ.com made a call to
action to governors of Jigawa and Kano states as well as stakeholders in the
region to assist and encourage the outstanding student.
